Pearl Winona Awaa, 73, of Papaikou, died Aug. 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Aug. 4, 1939, in Kohala, she was a sales clerk for Seven Eleven Convenience Store in Hilo.

Pearl Winona Awaa, 73, of Papaikou, died Aug. 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Aug. 4, 1939, in Kohala, she was a sales clerk for Seven Eleven Convenience Store in Hilo.

Friends may call Sept. 15 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, where visitation will occur from 5 to 9 p.m. and a celebration of her life begins at 6 p.m. The family requests aloha attire be worn. Flowers and lei are welcomed.

She is survived by sons, Bernard (Yvonne) Torres Jr., Raymond Abenes, Rene Talisay of Hilo, Mathew (Laura) Torres of Papaikou, Rayburn Abenes, Lawrence (Brendon) Abenes of Honolulu, Larry (Lee) Abenes of Colorado; daughters, Theresa Emeliano, Stephanie Wong of Hilo, Raynette (Allan) Lacad of Honolulu; brother, Samuel (Lulu) Awaa Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
